Week 13 : Famous Last Words

Wow, I can't believe that there are only three more weeks left in this semester. Where did this semester go? Time really does fly. I swear last week was the middle of January and the first day of spring semester classes. I swear that I blinked, and when I opened my eyes, it was suddenly the end of April. With the last three weeks approaching, I am trying to keep myself on track and motivated to finish the semester strong. Even though this beautiful weather this past weekend was a huge tease for summer, I have to remember to continue to study and stay on top of my remaining school work and projects. I have three large group projects in my Marketing, Spanish, and Personal Training classes to complete by dead week and my goal is to make significant progress on all of them before the end of this week. Group work is never my favorite, but I am determined to have a positive attitude about it and put all of me effort into each project! I also want to continue to manage my budget well these next few weeks so I can save up for some new clothes and swimsuits for my upcoming vacations to Galveston and Aruba in May. I can't believe my junior year is almost over. I swear I was a freshman yesterday and then all the sudden turned into an upperclassmen today. I wish I could stay a junior at OU forever. I don't want to be a senior because I don't want to grow up nor leave Norman. If I could give one piece of advice to all incoming freshman / high school seniors, it would be to not take any moment for granted! Love where you are and what you do, and live life to the fullest!

Week 10 : Famous Last Words

As Week 10 comes to an end, I couldn’t be more thankful, proud, and exhausted. On Wednesday this past week, I flew to Houston to the Final Four with the OU Spirit Program. I was so excited to be chosen to cheer at the final basketball tournament this year. When we arrived in Houston, we attended many appearances for alumni, participated in photoshoots and commercials for new stations such as CBS, and practiced for for the game. We waited anxiously for the OU men’s basketball team to play on Saturday night. Finally, when the day came, we sent the team off on their bus to the NRG stadium in Downtown Houston. When we arrived at the NRG stadium, the arena was packed and I was taken back when I realized I would be cheering at the largest event in collegiate athletics. It was absolutely breathtaking and so surreal to be at the Final Four in the middle of all the action. Unfortunately, the outcome of the game didn’t turnout the way we wanted. The Sooners had an incredible season and I am so proud of everything the team has accomplished these past few years! Coach Kruger is an absolute class act in times of adversity and his players resemble this characteristic as well. I am so thankful for the opportunity to cheer on the best basketball team in the nation on the biggest stage. As I return to Norman this afternoon, I am feeling a mix of emotions. I feel sad because of the bitter loss and the way the season ended but also I feel happy and content for the trip to Houston with my teammates was one to remember. I can’t wait to see the OU men’s basketball team continue to grow next year. Although it is sad to see the senior starters - Buddy, Spangler, Cousins, Woodard, leave this year, I know they will achieve great things in the future and I know Coach Kruger will continue his legacy with the new team next season.

Week 5 : Famous Last Words

Famous Last Words

After reading many different stories within the past 2 weeks, I really liked the idea of modeling a story after a TV show. I just read a story based on the TV shows, "Days of our Lives" and thought it was very appropriate for the type of story they were telling. I have plenty of favorite reality shows, including the Bachelor, which is currently running. I just don't know how to start off my story and explain to my audience that the scene and setting is a TV show. I guess I think about it too much and complicate things. Many people have heard of or are familiar with many popular TV shows so I think I need to introduce the TV show setting quickly and briefly in order to keep my audience captive and interesting.

Some TV shows I have been considering modeling my storytelling stories in the future after include 

- The Bachelor / The Bachelorette (Probably best suited for drama between a love triangle)
- Grey's Anatomy ( Who doesn't love a McDreamy or McSteamy doctor?!)
- Gossip Girl ( I already did I story based off of this series but was disappointed in my work)
- Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders : Making the Team (Big hair and Big kicks! Definitely more of a competition story setting)
- Deal or No Deal ( An old one but a favorite one! Could be kinda fun modeling a story after opening cases and seeing what the character receives!)

My goal is too eventually write a story modeled after one of these TV shows and hopefully make it good enough to want to add it to my portfolio! After I read the right story during my Tuesday/Wednesday reading units, I will know if it fits one of the above TV shows. It would be pretty fun to maybe do multiple ones using all of the above TV shows.
